Training -- Week 23!

One last taper week!

I spent most of the week creating custom fundraising shirts for the 5k for me and my Dad, as well as one for my birthday 10k. I also added my name and website in sparkle glitter to on my official Team in Training race shirt and tank top for the half and full. I’m a shirt-making maniac!

Running wise, I ran Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, and the weekday runs all felt great. Tuesday was my last long run of 8 miles at the hilly park with Sam. I felt strong, my pace was good, my relative effort was low, and I recovered well. It helped it was a bit warmer, too! On Friday, Sam took Oreo to check on me, so of course I had to stop to take a selfie. It’s practice for character stop selfies during the race! I’ve got to get my phone, ready, and back in my pocket while moving as much as possible. My Garmin said I was “idle” for just 5 seconds!

Sunday was my last training run, and it was a bit of a struggle. I had something in my shoe I had to stop for, my left foot hurt a bit, and it was hot. Mid 60’s and sunny, I got real hot real fast even in my race tank top! Nothing I did on Sunday would prepare me anymore just 4 days out from the beginning of the challenge. But there were potentially things I could do on Sunday that would hurt me for the challenge. So even though I set out to do 8-10, I slowed down and stopped at 4. Marathon day weather looks to be similar, so I’m hoping it cools off just a few degrees or there’s some cloud cover.

I can’t believe it’s almost GO-time. But I’ve put in the work, overcome sicknesses, and am antsy to get this show on the road. As Elsa sings, “It's time to see what I can do; to test the limits and break through!”

Week 23: Run 25.31 miles + Walk .56 miles = 25.87 total miles

Cumulative: Run 463.28 miles + Walk 24.45 miles = 487.73 cumulative miles
